Does the epix 2 show PTTK trails?
The epix 2's built-in maps show terrain, roads and points of interest on its vivid AMOLED screen, but not PTTK hiking trail waymarks. Karpaty draws a separate layer live: red, blue, green, yellow and black, exactly like the marks painted on trees in the mountains, together with your GPS position.
What it looks like on the epix 2
On launch the app searches for a GPS signal, usually a dozen or so seconds in open terrain. Once it gets a fix, it loads the trails for your area and draws the map. Neighboring areas load automatically as you hike, so there is nothing to download manually.
The app is operated with five physical buttons, no touch:
- ENTER opens the main menu (the START button)
- UP / DOWN zoom the map in and out
- UP held: recording stats screen
- BACK go back
How to install the app from Connect IQ Store
- Open Connect IQ Store on your phone (Garmin Connect app) or in a browser.
- Find the Karpaty app and install it, then wait for it to sync to the watch.
- Launch Karpaty on the epix 2 and wait for the first GPS fix in open terrain.
What the PRO version adds
The core map and GPS position are free with no time limit. The PRO version adds:
- Trail highlighting: draws a chosen color as a thicker line on the map, useful where several trails run together.
- Peaks with elevation: a triangle and elevation in metres on the highest summits of each range.
- Hike recording: saves your route to Garmin Connect, with time, distance, heart rate and elevation gain on a separate stats screen.

Does the epix 2 show PTTK trails?
